Three things to take away
- Keep original readings, device identity and time sources.
- Include deviations, gaps and actions rather than selecting favourable fragments.
- A quality finding, an alert status and liability are different records.
The situation: two screenshots describe different measurements
At receiving, the driver presents an ambient trailer reading while the receiver reports a sampled product measurement. Their positions, times and measurement targets differ. Two genuine readings do not automatically invalidate each other.
First establish the batch, device and journey interval. Keep the receiving check location, method and operator. Explain measurement differences at the beginning of the report instead of deleting points to make two records appear consistent.

Sample readings. Configure transport limits and responses for the goods.
Keep original readings, event times and methods; show receiving checks separately for quality review.
Evidence: make the original data understandable
Archive readings, units, device references, placement, available calibration information and gaps. Separate recording time from receiving-check time, and retain device status, later uploads and manual changes.
Then connect loading, stops, door events or transfers. Identify which events were collected automatically and which were confirmed manually. Explain how the agreed rules calculate exception duration and how sampling limits what can be observed.
Four questions a reviewable report should answer
| Operating step | Action | Evidence to review |
|---|---|---|
| Which goods? | Match task, batch and device identity | Order, batch and device mapping |
| What was measured? | Explain placement, units and times | Original readings, method and checks |
| What happened? | Connect exceptions and field actions | Handling, door events, uploads and gaps |
| What was decided? | Archive quality findings and next steps | Approver, evidence and receiving response |
Response: let the quality process decide the next step
Operations contacts the receiving and quality owners and follows the agreed hold, isolation or additional-check process. Record the facts and actions at the time. A closed alert must not be presented as a passed quality inspection.
Archive the quality finding with its author, time and supporting material. Liability or claims discussions require the full record and relevant agreements; the system should not determine damage or responsibility from one peak reading.
Review: convert repeated disputes into specific actions
Distinguish transport-condition deviations, unsuitable sensor positions, different receiving methods and missing records. Each points to a different change in handling, monitoring, handover or reporting. Raising every threshold does not resolve these differences.
A pilot can check report completeness, evidence retrieval and completed responses. Any change in losses or claims needs actual business and quality records. Until those exist, describe the method and evaluation criteria rather than invented outcomes.
Questions, answered
Does a normal temperature chart guarantee product quality?
No. It describes measured conditions within its coverage. Product acceptance also depends on applicable requirements, checks and the quality process.
Can outliers be deleted before sharing a report?
Do not present an edited selection as a complete original record. Retain original data and explain invalid readings, corrections and missing intervals.
